Basemap
Change the parameters under the "Basemap" label to change the data visualized onto the visual map. One can change the range of data queried in terms of amount of data as well as the years the data comes from as well as specify querying only data involving certain authors or venues. One can also change the algorithms used to gather the data.
Heatmap
Change the parameters under the "Heatmap" label to change the overlay that is displayed on the basemap. The heatmap can be used to represent some subset of the data gathered via the basemap. For example, one might make a basemap of all papers written between 2000 and 2013 while overlaying a heatmap of papers only from 2013 to see a difference in the papers between the two timeframes.
